The mission of the UNC Asheville Department of Public Safety is to facilitate a safe, secure, and service oriented environment for its students, faculty, staff, alumni, and visitors.  A variety of offices and committees support these efforts through an array of policies, services, and programs. To achieve our mission, the Department of Public Safety develops partnerships within the University Community that encourages problem solving, service orientation, and communication. The Department of Public Safety serves the University Community with professionalism and integrity and emphasizes a balance between education, customer service, crime prevention, and enforcing laws and policies. It is our job to enhance the UNC Asheville student experience and facilitate a safe learning and living environment.

The Department of Public Safety is housed within the Division of Student Affairs.

Report Criminal Activity

If you know of a crime or wish to report suspicious activity, which has happened or one that is being planned, you can submit an Anonymous Crime Tip.  If you have been the victim of a crime, you can report a crime by calling 828.251.6710

2012 Annual Security & Fire Safety Report

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Crime Statistics Act, we are pleased to present this year's Annual Security & Fire Safety Report. The Clery Act requires colleges to produce and make available statistics about selected crimes on campus and certain policy statements. This report contains safety and security information of interests for all current and prospective students, employees, and visitors.
