The crime alerts or "timely warnings" listed below are a requirement of The Jeanne Clery Act. An alert is posted when the university considers a crime or incident to pose an ongoing threat to students and employees.

January 27th, 2014: Sexual Assault on W.T. Weaver Blvd 1/21/14
he UNC Asheville Police Department is encouraging caution among UNC Asheville students following a report by a female who is not affiliated with the University that she was sexually assaulted by an unidentified man near the intersection of Barnard and W.T. Weaver Blvd.
The Asheville Police Department is investigating the incident reported to have occurred near Barnard and W.T. Weaver at approximately 12:48 am on 01/21/2014. The suspect is described as a white male with thin facial hair, a white t-shirt, blue jeans, course hair and a dark overcoat.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Asheville Police Department at 828-252-1110 or Crime Stoppers at 828-255-5050.
The UNC Asheville Police Department recommends that students be aware of their surroundings and be alert to suspicious persons and activities. Police encourage students to not walk alone at night, trust their instincts and report suspicious incidents or individuals promptly to the Police at 911 off campus or 251-6710 on campus.
January 19th, 2014: Motor Vehicle Break-Ins
The UNC Asheville Police Department is currently investigating a number of motor vehicle break-ins that have recently occurred in parking lots P1, P2 and the Sherrill Parking Deck. The suspect(s) involved in these incidents have broken the windows of vehicles and removed items stored in plain view. The Asheville Police Department is also investigating a number of motor vehicle break-ins at the Grove Apartments and surrounding areas.

As a reminder, please remove all valuables from your vehicle and lock the doors when your vehicle is parked and unattended.
